Covers

Just wondering what everyone's opinions are with bands doing covers. Do you feel they are a necessity? If there is a brand new band hitting the scene you never heard before, does a cover help the set or if the music is good enough are you just as content with all original material?

I dont mine 1 cover, 2 if needed (not enough originals) but if the band is new and they are opening then likely they have a set under 30 minutes. If half or nearly all there songs are covers i'm just going to assume they are a cover band and pay little to no attention.

Cover to start the set or to end it? I wondered this for a while. I can see a cover starting the set could get people who might not be interested to pay attention. If its a fan fav song thats done well. But I think its best to end the set with one. If your a band thats been around a while one at the end is ok IMO.

I agree with Necro 100%. Nothing wrong with a few covers to get you started.
